Yakima Big Powderhound
By Mark
I was only able to use the rack once last winter, but it was great on a 6 hour drive round trip with 3 pairs of skis. There was room for more skis, but I'm skeptical that it could actually hold 6 pairs of skis. I could easily see 4 and maybe squeeze a 5th pair depending on the size, but 6 seems like too many. I can't say for sure, though because I haven't personally tested trying to fit 6 pairs.

Installation was straight forward and like the other reviewer said, it would be easier with two people but it's certainly not impossible with one. It just takes a little patience. I did it by myself on my 2009 Grand Cherokee without any problems.

The actual rack is sturdy and secured my skis very well. I wasn't worried at all during the drive. I didn't hear any appreciable wind noise, but gas mileage suffered a few points which is to be expected.

All in all, very happy with my purchase.

This rack works as advertised. Fits very securely to the factory crossbars on our 2007 Subaru Outback. Quiet w/o skiis. Some wind noise at 70 MPH plus when loaded, but so what. You can't expect to hang all that gear on the roof and not get some noise. Helps to have someone help mount, since the rack has to be manipulated to align the screws with the brackets, but not that tough. Good directions. Locks work well, but are a little finicky. Not a big deal.

About $100 cheaper than Subaru wanted and also cheaper than alternative aftermarket products. Install was easy. Great product for the money!
