Bought for Snowboarding in Colorado...
By Michael DeCarlo
temperatures were between 10-20 degrees the entire trip and I was never cold wearing these (as part of my gear). Feet were always toasty, dry, comfortable!

Black w/ feather print fits my large calves perfect
By Paty Kay
FIRTST MY MEASUREMENTS: 16.5" at the largest part of my calves, 13.5" at the back of knee crack and below the knee in front, 10" ankle and I wear 9.5 to 10 in womens, needing wide in dress shoes.
THESE FIT PERFECT IN MEDIUM (surprisingly, I thought I would have to size up to Large because of my calves). Plenty of room in the toe soft comfortable, no irritating seams.
The pattern does look a little stretched out at the calf but these fit better than several different style Burton Ski Socks (Womens Large and Medium), and Columbia ski socks (Mens Large) that I picked up at TJMax this week. The Columbia didn't even go up the calf :( The Burton Larges were too large in some styles and fit in the Trillium, Party Sock, and Merino Phase styles. Of these the Merino Phase felt the most comfortable (the others were too thick IMO).
SO I tried the Burton Merino Phase on one foot and the Smartwool on the other in my new Sorel Firenzy II boots....The Burton socks slowly (I didn't watch the clock but within 30min-1hr) fell down my leg until they were bunched up above my ankle, the Smartwool never budged. That I'm sure would stink on the slopes in skis, to have to pull them up so often. It may have been I needed the Medium but as TJs had only one Medium and my daughter liked it, she got that pair. I'm going to wash the Smartwools before my first ever ski trip to make sure they don't shrink up on me or anything. This snowgear stuff is expensive, very expensive, $25 is what these are selling for right now on Amazon, TJs had them for $12.99 still steep for socks, hope they are worth it!
Added 11/17/13: I found some purple ones and they were too small. So my review is specific to the black ones with pink feathers, good luck ladies.
