Great Rack

Outstanding product line. I was really very impressed with the Thule roof system, all aspects. After visiting the fit guide I knew exactly what I needed with MSRP included per part. All the bits I needed where easy enough to find; had the whole thing ordered in a matter of minutes saving about $30 off sticker , free shipping with prime PLUS since its amazon the sales tax was, shall we say absent. All in all I made out like a bandit on the purchase.

As far as installation(06 VW GTI) the instructions are a little daunting without the pieces out in front of you, but, once you visualize the installation as illustrated it's actually quite simple. By the time you've done one cross bar, you're a pro; super intuitive. Also I want to point out that you get some thoughtful extras that are left out of the product description, like very hefty clear poly-somthing sheets to actually adhere to the car preventing clear coat damage, as well as supplemental weather stripping for your door wells to help seal out the elements. Quality hardware and materials, they give you your money's worth.

Just a heads up though, the front load bar disrupts airflow over the roof line at speeds above about 40mph generating a low howling noise. You should count on buying a faring, It totally eliminates this problem plus it's so darn nice to look at.

All things considered this is a fine product- solid, intuitive, beautiful and practical; really the perfect hat for your auto. If it would be beneficial for you to carry stuff on your roof, you'll be happy with this product family.

Absolutely Great 4 My Ford Edge

I bought this one for my Ford Edge 2009. This works absolutely great. It is really safe, easy to install and uninstall.
Package I bought: Thule RB53 Rapid Aero Aluminum Roof Rack Load Bars (53-Inch, Set of 2), Thule 1530 Fit Kit for 480 Traverse and 480R Traverse Foot Pack, Thule Rapid Traverse Foot Pack (Set of 4), Thule 544 Lock Cylinders for Car Racks (4-Pack). Everything fits properly. I am really happy, this gives me a lot of help so that I can have plenty of options to adjust to this system. Actually I am using the: Thule 630 Ranger 90 Rooftop Cargo Bag (Rack Mounted) that is absolutely great.

Used for Christmas Vacation

My wife pitched the idea of buying a car topper to free up room in our Ford Focus for an upcoming 11 hour car ride with 2 dogs. After a lot of research, paying closer attention to other vehicle racks around town, and trying to think of the best use of my money I settled on Thule (apparently pronounced "tool-ey"). The final selling point was the wide variety of products they sold that can be reused easily on other cars and with other products. For example, I could use the car topper and then use a bike rack, raft rack, or just the bar to transport plywood, etc.

I ended up purchasing the custom feet pack, aero bars, rapid traverse feet, locks, and cargo box. Although we spent several hundred dollars on everything if we wanted to use these products on our Scion all we have to do is buy the customer feet pack at ~$70. The custom feet pack come with the specific measurement and placement of the feet and bars. Follow the instructions and the install will go smoothly with some time. Once you have it figured out installing and remove the bar and box will take 2 minutes. During our trip we removed the cargo box and I was able to easily do it by myself in a few minutes. The entire setup survived a 22 hour round trip at highway speeds up to 80 mph. The box also sat in the rain overnight and went through rain on the road and the contents stayed dry. Setup stayed in place, tight and secure, and did not scratch the paint.
