It Was a Dark Night...

...I crept cautiously down the hall step-by-step, checking behind me multiple times out of anxiety. It was nearly midnight, and they were searching for me. Clutched into my palm was a blade, freshly scented and stained with blood, close to my chest. Then, I heard it; The call. They had found me. Rolling intensely down the hall, I leaped as far as I could to get to the exit stairwell, but it was too late. Quicker than bullets, an entire barrage of bladed weaponry was spun my way. I dodged quickly to the other side of the hall, with several shuriken having found their way lodged into my arm and back. I eyed the entire room, sweat pouring down my face profusely...but no one was there. Ninjas they were indeed. And they would be back within the next millisecond to take me out for good. Maybe there was only one of them. I wouldn't know. However, thankfully the underarmour tactical hood I was wearing at the time wicked away my sweat drenched face with ease, and kept my facial temperature in check, even when the situation alone makes you cry. And boy did I cry.
Okay that was completely unnecessary, poorly written, made no sense, and probably was a waste of time, but whoever reads that I hope you enjoyed it somewhat. In any case, the actual review...
The day after I ordered this, it was shipped. Then the next day after that, it was at my door! That's the fastest ground shipping I think is even possible. Probably delivered by a ninja...
As for the hood itself, I got the Dark Navy color, and under a lot of artificial lighting, it just looks black. Proper [sun]light shows that it really is a very dark navy though. I would have liked the neck to be a little longer, otherwise it works great. No problems breathing through it, but take note that if you're doing intensive work and breathing out of your mouth, you do tend to suck it in. Or you can sacrifice looking like a ninja and just pull the mouth cover under your lip. :P I use this for airsoft as well as various other sporting activities and it's held up pretty well. It's especially fun to wear this during my shaolin Gong Fu classes. :D

Hood is a bit tight, and the neckline is high.

Now, the UA heatgear hood is the best one I've ever had experience with (I've got 2, green and black), but they're not PERFECT.
The things I like about them are how cool they are, I live in a +90% humidity area, and this sweating is a huge problem, the UA Hood helps a lot by drying fast and it's quite comfortable. Though it does eventually get soaked. (dries fast though). The cut of the hood (allowing for different wearing 'styles' is of course a plus but not extremely important to me.
Two of my problems with it are the one-size-fits all policy. I have a big head and it does get a bit tight; Not too bad, but pressure on your jaw for the whole day get frustrating. Secondly, the hood ends high, so I don't have coverage between my adams apple and my t-shirt neckline. If you don't have a big head, this might also not be a problem for you.
If they made a large size hood, I would definitely look into replacing my current ones. But as of now, no one makes a better good.

UA heatgear tactical hood

Light weight makes it easy for helmet to fit over. Have to be careful around velcro and flames as material is like a nylon and will snag or burn easily. Keeps ears warm in the upper thirties, but your goggles will fog up until you start moving so have to pull down when stopped at lights.
